Thinking about the future

May 2, 2017 | Tony Byrne's View

I have read a number of books on the future including Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think, and Bold: How To Go Big, Create Wealth And Impact The World both written by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler.

The theme of Abundance is that new technologies are going to solve many of the world’s resource problems over the coming 10-20 years bringing about a world of future abundance.¬†It is a well researched and hugely optimistic book. Bold focuses more on what they call exponential entrepreneurs who use exponential tools and technologies to reach large populations of people and take on large challenges that were previously only addressable by government.¬†People such as Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, Larry Page and Elon Musk are cited as examples of this new breed of exponential entrepreneur.¬†They are of course the founders of Amazon, Virgin, Google and Tesla.

Following on from these two impressively researched and entertainingly written books I read a book by Jim Mellon and Al Chalabi called Fast Forward in which the authors identify 8 areas which will have the most impact on our lives, highlighting investment opportunities along the way. These areas are as follows;

Robotics and automation

Biotechnology or life sciences

The Internet Of Things

Energy especially renewable energy and new nuclear energy

Payment processing

3D printing

Media, publishing, education

I am so convinced that these areas represent the greatest growth opportunities over the next 5-10 years and beyond that I have formed a new fund management company called Intelligent Wealth Fund Managers and we have created a fund called The Intelligent Wealth Fund which will invest in these sectors. Needless to say companies with exponential entrepreneurs running them will feature in our fund. We are not aware of another fund like it.

We are planning to launch it in the next few months. We plan to include the fund within the investment strategies that we currently offer to our clients once it has been launched.

We are very excited about its prospects. We already have a ghost portfolio and have back-tested the returns over the last 5 years which have produced an annual return of 23%! The usual risk warnings apply of course. Past performance simulation is no guarantee of future returns. Your capital is at risk.

In order to launch the fund successfully we need you to introduce to us any friends, relatives or work colleagues of yours who may be interested in investing in it in the future because without your support the fund will not achieve the success we believe it deserves.

So please let us know of any investors you know amongst your friends, colleagues and relatives who would like to invest in our fund when it is launched. We think they will be eternally grateful to you in the future. The easiest way to do this of course is to forward this blog on to your contacts.

We are absolutely convinced this fund will be a great success so your support in helping us to launch it will be greatly appreciated by us.
